Domestic Violence and Mediation: The Basics and Beyond

The University of South Florida Conflict Resolution Collaborative now offers a four hour online course titled Domestic Violence and Mediation: The Basics & Beyond. Dr. Martha Coulter, Professor in the USF College of Public Health, draws from her experience as a mediator and nationally recognized expert in domestic violence to review the basics of domestic violence and discuss the practical issues facing the mediator when domestic violence may be present. This Internet videotape presentation qualifies for 4.4 hours of Continuing Mediator Education credit and is approved by the Florida Bar (#72925) for 5 general CLER credits. A minimum of four continuing education credits are also available for mental health professionals, physicians, and nurses. Due to the recent resignation of Jimm Edwards from the MEAC, there is a vacancy in the Northern Division (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 14th Judicial Circuits) for a Florida Supreme Court certified county mediator. If you are interested in serving on the MEAC, please send a current resume and letter of interest to the Dispute Resolution Center by November 30, 2005. The MEAC provides written advisory ethics opinions to mediators subject to the Florida Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators in response to ethical questions arising from the Standards of Professional Conduct.
