  • Bar Referees - Disciplinary Proceedings

    Article V, Section 15 of the Florida Constitution gives the Supreme Court of Florida exclusive jurisdiction to regulate the admission of persons to practice law and the discipline of persons so admitted. Judges serving as referees in attorney disciplinary proceedings should review the resources below prior to handling these cases.

    Pending Rule Changes

    On March 28, 2008, the Bar Board of Governors approved an amendment to Bar Rule 3-7.6(a), requiring trial judges who sit as referees in Bar grievance cases to have previous experience as a referee or to certify they have reviewed training materials provided by the OSCA. The Board of Governors also approved a change to Rule 3-7.13, regarding incapacity not related to misconduct. The rule changes now move to the Florida Supreme Court for review.
