    District Court of Appeal Workload & Jurisdiction Assessment Committee

    The District Court of Appeal Workload and Jurisdiction Assessment committee is asking lawyers, litigants and the public toAssessment Graphical Logo complete an on-line survey to help them evaluate the district courts of appeal. The assessment committee will examine the survey results as they consider whether a court’s performance in a specific area could be appreciably improved with a jurisdictional change.

    Article V, section 9, of the Florida constitution requires the supreme court to establish uniform criteria for determining the necessity for increasing, decreasing or redefining appellate districts. 

    Graphical Criteria ListThe assessment committee is evaluating each of the district courts of appeal using the criteria established in Rule 2.036, Florida Rules of Judicial Administration

    The criteria are designed to:

    1. Evaluate the extent to which the district courts are fulfilling their mission; and
    2. Focus not only on caseloads but also on court functionality and outcomes.

    About the survey :

    • You will be able to review the descriptive information the assessment committee has prepared and respond to the survey. 
    • You will need to answer a separate survey for each district court for which you would like your responses considered. 
    • You will not be asked to identify yourself and your responses will remain anonymous.

    Attorneys are especially encouraged to provide information on this opportunity to clients and any other interested persons.
