Position Title: Accountant II

Job Location: Office of the State Courts Administrator, Finance and Accounting Services, Tallahassee, Florida

Salary Range : $2,526.67 - $4,800.67 (Monthly*)

*The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum salary.


The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform accounting functions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position is responsible for analyzing accounts, preparing and processing related information, maintaining financial records and reports, reconciling various accounts, and performing clerical functions of responsibility. The position works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks.


Education and Training Guidelines:
Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis and additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer operations or a closely related field and one year of related experience.

Uses practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, measurements, or logarithms; may use algebraic solutions of equations and equalities, deductive geometry, and/or descriptive statistics.

Communications Requirements:
Reads technical instructions, charts, and/or procedures manuals; composes routine reports and completes job forms; speaks compound sentences using standard grammar.

Complexity of Work:
Performs skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem solving; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

Impact of Decisions:
Makes decisions with minor impact - affects those in immediate work area, other work units and external customers.

Equipment Usage:
Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as computers, peripherals, or software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets or custom accounting applications.
